The people said so

yarn

Sorry about the lack of posts. I haven't had a day off and rarely a work-day under 12 hours in quite some time. Working in post production can be rough. I don't know how much longer it's going to go on.

happy thursday anyway!

a little publicity

I just got word that Gen Art Pulse did a little piece about the upcoming show and there's a little blurb about me and they even included "Finger Bone". She's not for sale in this particular show but the other pieces are similar in feeling.

Just to air a little insecure nonsense:
I'm pleased they included me in the piece but I think I'm a little self-conscious about the "Tim Burton" comparrison. I feel like my style has largely been in flux lately as I try to grow as an artist and experiment with subject matter and style. I'm pretty hard on myself when it comes to my own work even though I form attachments with everything I make. I can't help but fear being considered part of a "trend" and my work not experienced individually. I also don't want that fear to influence my creative process. I also don't want to come off as pretentious but sometimes you can't help it when talking about art. This becomes a bit of a loop.

I guess this is what people who make shit go through.

Regardless, I am thankful to be recognized and mentioned by such a great internet art resource and I'm excited about the show. Please come if you're in the area. I'll be around so be sure to say hi!

I'm in this show on Sat:

CARMICHAEL GALLERY OF CONTEMPORARY ART PRESENTS

"SO MANY SELVES..."

As part of their monthly series of group shows, the Carmichael Gallery has
assembled another exciting line up of emerging artists from around the
world. "So many selves..." is a diverse collection of works from over
twenty-five artists of varying backgrounds, ages, gender, and circumstances.
Each of the pieces in the show is unique in subject matter, style, and,
quite frequently, media. No one theme dominates, and yet the harmony and
flow of creative impetus is unhindered from the first canvas to the last.
Like a crowded room of beings engaged in animated conversation, each eager
to tell his or her personal story, "So many selves.." demonstrates the
beautiful communion and growing international empathy of our art world.

Including works by: Alexandre Yassu (Brazil), Andrea Shear (USA), Angelique
Houtkamp (Holland), Binho Barreto (Brazil), Candice Tripp (South Africa),
Chris Stain (USA), Ciro Schu (Brazil), Damion Silver (USA), Daniel Bileu

+making money to pay bills and for art supplies
-getting sick for the 3rd time in the last 3 months
+preparing for a group art show at the Carmichael Gallery on Sept. 15
